Seven questions to ask any provider, and how our kit answers them.
Searching for the best DNA test in Singapore turns up a long list of kits, prices that seem to change every week, and claims that are hard to compare.
This guide sets out what actually separates one test from another, so you can compare any provider on the same terms, including us.
There are two different kinds of genetic test in Singapore, and it helps to know which one you are looking at.
Clinical genetic tests are ordered by a doctor to investigate a specific medical question. They are regulated and are not sold direct to the public.
Consumer DNA tests, like ours, are bought directly. They show your genetic predisposition: how your likelihood of certain conditions and traits compares with the general population.
A consumer DNA test is not a diagnosis and not a health screening. A screening shows your current health. A DNA test shows tendencies. The two work well together, and neither replaces the other.
HealthHub’s guide to direct-to-consumer genetic tests is worth reading before you buy from anyone.
Report counts vary widely, from a handful of reports to several hundred. Look at what the reports are, not just how many.
Our kit: 502 reports from one saliva sample.
| Category | Reports | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Cancer | 30 | Predisposition across 30 cancer types |
| General health | 198 | Metabolism, heart and circulation, brain, digestion, skin, immunity, mental health and more |
| Traits | 274 | Nutrition, fitness, sleep, skin care, weight management, drug responses |
| Ancestry | Included | Ancestry composition, with maternal and paternal lineage |
This is the question most comparisons skip, and it matters most. A report of several hundred results is hard to act on alone.
Some providers include a session to go through it, some charge for one, and some include none.
Our kit: a MyDNA consultant walks you through your findings and builds a plan with you. It is included in the price.
In Singapore your consultant also collects your saliva sample in person, at your home, your office or a location that suits you, and makes sure it is done correctly. You can collect at home instead if you prefer.
Some of our customers have gone for screening after their report showed a higher predisposition to a particular cancer, and their doctor found it at an early stage. These are individual experiences, not a promise of what any test will show. The DNA test shows likelihood. Screening is what finds disease, and that is why we always encourage people to take their results to their doctor.
Ask where the sample is analysed and what accreditation the laboratory holds.
Our kit: samples are analysed by our laboratory partner Genoplan in CAP-accredited laboratories. Genoplan uses SNP microarray genotyping on a custom array it designed and Illumina manufactures. It directly measures around 700,000 genetic markers, and estimates further markers through statistical imputation.
The panels go deeper on Asian population data than many services, which makes risk estimates more relevant for people with Asian ancestry, alongside the global data every panel uses.
Our kit: 10 to 14 days after the sample reaches the laboratory. Results appear in a secure online account you can open on your phone, tablet or computer.
Your reports also update over time. Your genes do not change, but the science does, and your reports are updated as research advances at no extra cost.
This became a much bigger question in 2025, when 23andMe filed for bankruptcy and its customer genetic data was sold as part of the process.
Before you buy anywhere, ask who holds your data, whether it can be sold, and whether you can test under a different name.
Our kit:
Under Singapore’s Ministry of Health moratorium, insurers are prohibited from requesting or using direct-to-consumer DNA test results in policy decisions, for both new and existing policies.
That applies whichever provider you choose.
Several providers in Singapore discount heavily and almost continuously, so list prices tell you less than they seem to.
Compare the full cost: the kit, shipping, and whatever you pay to have the results explained.
Our kit: S$398, usually S$408, plus shipping, calculated at checkout.
The consultant session is included, so there is no separate fee to understand your results.

No. Our kit is a consumer genetic test. It shows predisposition, not a diagnosis, and it does not detect disease. If a result concerns you, take it to your doctor. Our reports come in a secure digital format doctors can read.
No. A higher predisposition means a higher likelihood than the population average, not a certainty. Genetics accounts for roughly 30% of health outcomes and lifestyle for roughly 70%, which is why what you do with the result matters.
No. It means your genetic likelihood is lower than average. Lifestyle, environment and regular health screening still matter.
Yes. Pregnancy does not change your genetic information.
Wait until you have fully recovered and finished any antibiotics, so the sample contains only your own DNA.
The saliva kit is suitable from age 5.
Talk to us and we will take you through what the reports cover, what they can and cannot tell you, and whether the test is right for you. Or order your kit.
