MyDNA Kids: Nutrition, Traits and Well-Being. The cheek swab kit, for children from 1 month until they turn 5.

The swab is only how we collect the sample. What you are really getting is the reading of it: 500+ reports read for a child, and a MyDNA consultant who tells you what matters and what to do next.

  • The reports: 500+ reports in your parent account. Your child’s review draws on up to 187 of them, with 106 explained in plain language across eight areas specific to children
  • The consultation: a person who walks you through the results and builds a plan with you
  • The kit: a gentle cheek swab that you take, with your consultant there to help

Age 5 and up? See the saliva kit.

Why the reports and the consultation are the value

On their own, 500+ reports are a lot to read. You would have to work out which findings matter for your child, how strong the evidence is, and what to do about each one. We do that part for you. We read every report with a child in mind, write up the ones that matter in plain language, and your consultant sits down with you to turn them into a plan you can follow. That is where the value is, and it is why the kit is only the start.

500+ reports, with 106 you’ll hear about first

Your child’s account holds the full library of more than 500 reports, and we have read every one with a child in mind. A child’s review draws on up to 187 of them. We write up 106, across eight areas, because those matter most to a parent. Your consultant walks you through them. The rest are still there in your account whenever you want to look.

  • Nutrition (28): food sensitivities, eating habits, and how your child’s body handles key vitamins and minerals
  • Health foundations (24): allergies, breathing, skin, eyesight and teeth, framed gently
  • Movement and sport (13): strength, endurance, flexibility, reflexes and injury tendencies
  • Senses and everyday life (12): taste, smell and pitch, plus motion sickness and mosquito bites
  • Temperament (11): how your child tends to approach people, risk and setbacks
  • Learning and creativity (7): memory, maths and reading confidence, and creativity
  • Sleep (6): deep sleep, falling asleep, sleepiness and body clock
  • Development and well-being (5): attention, mood and neurodevelopment, handled with extra care

How this differs from the standard MyDNA kit, and what more you get

The standard kit is built for adults. The Kids kit is built around children, and most of the difference is in the reading, not the swab:

  • A consultant who explains it. They sit down with you, go through what matters for your child, and turn it into a plan you can follow, so you are not left working it out from the reports.
  • Focused on a growing child. Your consultant focuses on the reports that matter most for a growing child. The full report library is always there in your parent account.
  • A report written for you, not a lab. Plain language, nutrition amounts based on Singapore guidelines, and each finding labelled Strong, Moderate or Early so you know how much weight it deserves.
  • Health foundations framed gently. A tendency reads as something worth building early or raising with your paediatrician, never as a label.
  • A swab made for small children. Gentle enough for a baby and simple for a parent to do, with your consultant there to help. It is the kit from 1 month until they turn 5. From age 5, the saliva kit takes over.

How it works

  1. Order your kit
  2. Your consultant arranges a time and place that suits you, and is there to help while you take the swab
  3. Register the kit
  4. Your child’s sample goes to the laboratory at no extra cost to you
  5. Results appear in your secure online account, 10 to 14 days after the sample reaches the lab
  6. Your consultant talks you through the findings and what to do next

Good to know

  • For children from 1 month until they turn 5. From age 5, use the saliva kit
  • You decide who sees the results, including whether and when to share them with your paediatrician
  • Reports are updated over time as research advances, at no extra cost
  • Your child’s genetics are a blueprint, not their destiny

MyDNA provides direct-to-consumer genetic testing for wellness and informational purposes. It is not a medical diagnostic test and does not replace medical advice, diagnosis, health screening or treatment. Genetic predisposition indicates likelihood, not certainty. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional, such as your child’s paediatrician, about their personal health, and before starting any supplement.
